Excalibur moment in Venice

An Excalibur Moment in Venice!

Bricola are three legged oak structures which are in Venice's canals. They indicate navigation routes throughout Venice's canal system.Wrought iron nails are hammered into the Bricola to hold the chains together near the top of the structure.    I found a beached one on a slipway close to where we were staying. There was a large nail projecting from the body of the Bricola. I tugged at it and to my astonishment - it came loose! I thought what a find! perfect for making a small sculpture. When we went through the airport's x-ray machine it was brought to their attention and then carefully examined by two security staff and eventually allowed to pass through.
